Berea High SchoolClass of 1985 |
Thank you, everyone, for a great weekend, for all the messages of support, and especially for the offers to help next time -- don't
think I won't be taking you up on that.
I've created a Flickr photoset for the reunion, and uploaded a couple of pictures from the one before that, too. (I'm still in the honeymoon phase of my relationship with Flickr.)
I thought I took a whole lot more photos than I actually did, so if you've got some, send them to me (by e-mail or by CD or prints in the mail [contact me for the address]) and I'll add them to the photoset. (If you're a Flickr member already and want to form a group to pool photos, just let me know and I'll set one up.)
And fill in the blanks where you can, please. I didn't catch all the spouses'/guests' names. You can let me know by e-mail or just use the commenting feature on Flickr.
Big, massive thank-yous are due to Kelly (Bartley) Curtis and Bill Kyle. They dutifully showed up, tossed around ideas, helped scout locations, and generally made things happen.
Kelly is a member at Rustic Hills and did a lot of the legwork in getting the details together for Saturday night in addition to cracking the whip and trying (sometimes in vain) to keep me on track, all while planning her own wedding, which took place at the end of June.
Bill helped us out by planning another great golf outing (which unfortunately had to be cancelled), serving as a reality check, and by making sure no beer went to waste at our committee meetings.
Thanks also go to Holly Persons, who helped us brainstorm, and to Jennifer (Wetzel) Richard, who made phone calls for me on Friday and helped keep the wolves at bay.
Gold stars all around.
We've had some discussion about maybe trying to do a yearly casual thing in conjuction with some of the other mid-80s classes, perhaps for the Saturday of homecoming weekend (usually October). This would be an event like the Tony K's gathering, where we ask for donations toward the cost of the room, bartender, and some appetizers. Please let me know what you think of this idea so we can get a gauge of interest and get things in motion if need be. I'll be contacting some of the other classes' reunion organizers to find out if they would be interested in this, too. We would start this in 2006.
The reunion committee can always use more volunteers. Being on the committee is a great way to reconnect with classmates in a less hectic setting, and we always have a good time at our meetings. Please consider joining us.
The missing persons list is here. It was last updated in mid July. I will add more names when I get the time to do so.

Join your classmates on the BHS 1985 e-mail list we've set up at Yahoo Groups (formerly eGroups, and before that, OneList). More than 50 of your classmates are members.
The list volume is fairly low and rather sporadic, but it is a good way to keep in touch with your classmates.

Be sure to e-mail us if your address, phone number, or e-mail address changes. This is the best way to ensure that you will receive reunion and other information.
The Berea High Alumni Association maintains the master database of contact information for all Berea High alumni. We strongly urge you to keep them (as well as us) informed if your address, phone number, or e-mail changes. You do not need to be an Alumni Association member to do this. Their database, in conjunction with our own database, is the main source from which we draw addresses for sending reunion information.
The Berea High Alumni Association has a web page at www.berea.k12.oh.us, well hidden under the tab labeled "staff." You can get more information by contacting Pam Simon, Alumni Liaison, Berea City School District, 390 Fair St., Berea OH 44017; 440-243-6000; psimon@berea.k12.oh.us. Membership in the association is inexpensive and worthwhile.
There are quite a few alumni registries out there on the web, but by far the most used by Berea High alumni is Classmates.com (218 people from our class registered as of August 2005). If you're inclined to join only one online registry, that's the one we recommend.
(Middleburg Heights doesn't seem to have an official web page)
